DR DOV DEGEN

Nephrologist & General Medicine Physician
Dr Dov Degen is a dual trained Nephrologist and General Medicine Physician with Peri-operative experience, as well as a qualified VAD (euthanasia) Physician. He holds a public appointment at Eastern Health and has private rooms at Central Park Specialist Centre in East Malvern. He consults privately at Holmesglen, Epworth and Cabrini hospitals.

He obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery with honours from Monash University and subsequently completed Physician's training across a variety of rural and metropolitan healthcare networks. He is passionate about medical education and previously worked as a Director of Physician Education at Eastern Health. He is a Teaching Associate for Monash University and mentors medical students and junior doctors.

He has extensive medical experience in diverse areas, with particular interests in diabetic nephropathy, hypertension, mental health (including lithium nephropathy), metabolic syndrome, palliative care, and chronic disease management.
​
Dr Dov Degen has excellent communication skills and has upskilled through reputable masterclass workshops. He takes pride in providing clear and accurate information to ensure his patients understand the nuances of their care and are included in their management decisions.

Outside of medicine, Dov is a passionate mental health advocate for Beyond Blue and SANE Australia. He aims to destigmatise stigma surrounding mental illness by raising public awareness to doctors and the wider community. His sensitivity to psychosocial issues enables him to deliver holistic care to his patients.

He is enthusiastic about health equity and works as a locum Nephrologist in Coober Pedy to provide healthcare to indigenous Australians.
​
In his spare time, Dov enjoys exercising, reading, socialising, playing piano, studying Japanese, hiking, and travelling.
